Continuing its mission to amplify African creativity, the Africa Prime Initiative (#API) partnered with #GallerySoview in 2023 to support the next generation of #Ghanaian artists. This partnership awarded US$2,000 grants to five talented emerging artists—Elroy Salam, Emmanuel Afriyie Arthur, Quarshie Dela, Hannah Baah Entsiful, and Mary-Jo Adjetey—to help them realize their creative potential.

 These grants provided the artists with the resources they needed, from materials and equipment to development opportunities, enabling them to create work that resonates with both local and international audiences.

In September 2024, Gallery Soview launched "I SEE EVERYTHING YOU CAN BE", an exhibition that celebrated the innovation and progress of these artists as they continue to shape #Ghana's creative landscape.

With 4 billion heading to the polls this year, including in 19 African nations, an empowered media sector will be vital for ushering in a new era of reformers across the continent. In the past, Africa’s news outlets have been apprehensive to challenge the work of governments due to the political and economic obstacles – but finally, the media is increasingly willing to scrutinise leaders and promote effective leadership. AFRICA’S STORYTELLING TRADITION MUST PERSIST

Storytelling has long played a central role in African societies with storytellers often holding a special place as the keepers of history and tradition. However, with migration, Africa’s stories have left the continent and are now disseminated across the world. Taking full ownership of our stories through new Afro-centric content requires us to reclaim our rich storytelling culture. With digitalisation, we have observed a renewed and increased interest from the diaspora in stories from home, as well as a strong desire from African creatives to share their authentic stories with a wider international audience. Observing these two dynamics has made it apparent that only by mutually strengthening collaboration between the diaspora and locals will we be able to ensure our storytelling tradition endures.
